The main objective of the Shimon Peres Chair for Peace is to promote education for peace, creating responsible citizenship, in a globalized and constantly changing world, teaching young people to exercise their democratic rights, cultivating values and attitudes of learning, understanding , justice, tolerance and human dignity, based on a harmonious coexistence of mutual respect, in order to build a culture of peace.
Only through an education based on values and positive attitudes will it be possible to face the challenges of the future, the change of paradigms and the development and globalized technological advance, from the learning of a universal, ethical, multicultural and tolerant culture that highlights the values of a culture of social responsibility towards others, in order to live together in peace.
The Shimon Peres Chair for Peace was founded by Mr. Shimon Peres in the year 2000 at the Universidad Anáhuac North Campus, being the first and only Chair of Education for Peace, which has no political affiliation and does not consist only of a class, if not a whole program that seeks to promote education for peace creating responsible citizenship; teaching people to exercise their democratic rights and cultivate values and attitudes of appreciation, compassion, justice, and tolerance, based on a harmonious coexistence and mutual respect, to learn to build a culture of peace.
The Chair is based at Fundación ILAN as of 2021, its work focuses on giving workshops and training to the Community of Award Winners, where they can educate on values, innovation, and construction of a culture of peace. At ILAN we are convinced that the purpose is to educate generations and strengthen the culture of innovation, to transcend and solve social challenges that can help communities develop and live in peace.
By promoting innovation, links will be built between academia, science, technology, the business sector, civil society, and the government to fight for a peaceful society and improve people’s lives.

On November 16, the third edition of the ILAN Awards for Innovation 2022 took place in Mexico City. The awards were given in recognition of Mexican innovators in seven different categories: Education, Communication, Social Transformation, Health and Science, Environment, Technology and Peace.
