By Isaac Assa, Founder and President of ILAN
The idea to create ILAN was originated thanks to the inspiration of a man who, for the past 10 years, has left a deep impression in my life; former Israeli president Shimon Peres, a man who had a very clear understanding that it is possible to improve the life of millions of people through technology and innovation.
We all have a responsibility that goes far beyond our own family and our community, we also have a duty to the country where we live in; I believe that rather than being passive, what we really need to do is to become proactive.
ILAN has the strong determination to improve the lives of the people in Mexico and Latin America and their societies.
Shimon Peres was one of the great leaders of Israel; a humble person, with a very big heart.
I had the honor of meeting him in person, and that first moment marked the beginning of a friendship full of respect, admiration and affection.
I asked him, “why do so many people love you, what is your secret?” To which he responded “It’s very simple, you must serve the people, and not the other way around”
A noble and authentic spirit, he was known for being a man of service and who helped others.
One of his wonderful and inspiring quotes is “If you have more dreams than achievements- you’re young”. Shimon Peres died a young man of 93; his dreams still exceed his age.
Innovation helps people achieve a better standard of living.
Mexico and Latin America face many challenges, therefore, there are great opportunities for improvement in different areas and in different sectors: health, education, social impact, infrastructure, agriculture and water supply technology, among others.
We are optimists, we believe that innovation can help people solve greater challenges and lead a dignified life, which in turn, will offer benefits to the community, resulting in countries with more opportunities and equality.
